Loon Swax Dubbing Wax is a clean, easy-to-use fly tying wax designed to help dubbing fibers grip securely to your tying thread. Packaged in a convenient push-up dispenser, Swax gives fly tyers better control when building smooth dry fly bodies, slim dubbing noodles, buggy nymph thoraxes, and bulkier synthetic dubbing blends.
Unlike traditional waxes that can feel overly sticky or messy, Loon Swax is designed for precise application. A small amount helps fibers cling to the thread without overloading the material, making it easier to create durable, cleaner-looking flies. Available in Low Tack and High Tack formulas, it lets you choose the right level of grip for everything from fine dry fly dubbing to coarse synthetic materials like Ice Dub.
Loon Swax makes dubbing easier, cleaner, and more controlled. The push-up tube keeps the wax contained and simple to apply, while the two tack options give tyers more flexibility at the vise. We especially like that it washes off easily with soap and water, helping keep your hands and tying area cleaner than many traditional sticky waxes.
Loon Swax Dubbing Wax is ideal for tying dry flies, nymphs, emergers, soft hackles, streamers, buggy thoraxes, dubbing loops, synthetic dubbing blends, and traditional dubbed fly bodies. Use Low Tack Swax for smaller trout flies and fine dubbing, and High Tack Swax for coarse materials, larger nymphs, Ice Dub, and bulkier fly patterns.
Apply Swax sparingly. Push up a small amount from the bottom of the dispenser, then lightly touch or swipe the wax onto your tying thread. You should barely see the wax on the thread before applying dubbing. Too much wax can change the texture of the dubbing, so start with a tiny amount and add more only when needed.
Push-Up Dispenser Design - The convenient tube makes it easy to expose just a small amount of wax and apply it directly to your tying thread.
Low Tack Formula - Best for fine dubbing, delicate materials, small dry flies, and slim bodies where you want a clean, subtle profile.
High Tack Formula - Ideal for large buggy nymphs, coarse dubbing, unruly synthetic fibers, Ice Dub, and patterns that need extra material grip.
Controlled Dubbing Application - Helps dubbing fibers stick to the thread for smoother noodles, tighter bodies, and better material placement.
Easy Clean Up - Washes off hands with soap and water, making it less messy than many traditional fly tying waxes.
